Your One-Stop Hairstyle Source

I am one of those guys that likes to switch things up and try a new hairstyle every now and then but what I hate to deal with is having the barber not fully understand the style that I want and then getting something that I am not satisfied with at all. I usually start explaining with detailed descriptions and if that doesn’t work then I look through their magazines to find an image of a cut that is similar, which all wastes a lot of time. With the amount of iPhone apps out there I knew there would be one that I could use as a resource to help me directly and quickly find a cool hairstyle. This app is called “Hair Trend for Men – 2011″ by ipmart.com.

What you have on the app are five categories. The first one is a little write up on what the general hair trends are for men in 2011. The second category is a face shape and hairstyle matcher. In the last three, they are categories that have images of  guys displaying hairstyle trends with either short, medium or long length hair.

I think for the reason that this app was made from a developer in Malaysia the scoop on the general hair trend in the first category seems to be lost in translation. For example I don’t fully understand what they mean by a hairstyle “endowing a cyclic order of change,” and most of this section seems to be like this, which makes it somewhat confusing and hard to take seriously. However, the good thing is that this is the only case where it happens and the writing in the rest of the categories are understandable.

The face shape and hairstyle matcher is not a matching system per se, what it really does is give you a description of why and what types of hairstyles conform to the particular face shape that is selected. I did not agree with everything they had to say but what do I know, I am not a hairstylist. Along with the summary are good photos of models and celebrities that help you visualize what the developer describes and that you can use as reference material to quickly show the person cutting your hair what you like.

All of the images in the last three categories, actually for this matter also the images in the other two categories are presented in a simple to use slide viewer. When you touch one image every photo in that category will be enlarged and shown in the viewer. There is a decent number and variety of images right now but this is something that should be increased upon at least whenever there is an app update.

You don’t need to take the advice for hairstyles on this app as hard fast rules but what you should take away is that the Hair Trend for Men – 2011 app is a useful reference tool that can help you save time and misunderstandings in your next visit to the barber.
